How can I connect Bloom’s Taxonomy with what I do in my life? How can I apply it to educational contexts? To other contexts?

Life is about learning and Bloom's taxonomy helps us to understand how learning takes place. It can be applied to any learning context and it's part of its beauty. When reading a book, for instance, or getting accquainted with a new topic, what is it that really counts? Bloom's taxonomy gives the learner / teacher a clear idea of the stages that have to be overcome in order for one to say "I know it". So, in other words, both the teacher and the student have a clear guide to their own development in a certain learning topic.

In my opinion, any context is an educational context. What may be different is the extent to which a learner has to go in order to get the necessary expertise in order to do well on a certain task. I could bring a text to class and require students to reach just the 'remembering' and 'understanding' levels, it all depends on my educational goal at that point in my teaching process. On the other hand, I could ask them to see a movie and make sure I'll have them develop all the cognitive processes described in Bloom's taxonomy. It is, therefore, a great tool to plan classes according to students' needs and also to monitor their development.
